Secret Garden - art in the park 16 October 2021

JRR Tolkien once wrote: 'All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.'

This is very much the story of the Caledon Wildflower Garden. For 129* years the Caledon Wildflower Garden has risen and fallen. Proudly carrying the title of the Jewel of the Overberg, but over the years with the end of the world-renowned Caledon Wildflower show, the generational gap and now the Covid-19 pandemic, she was forgotten by many. But she stirs and is busy awakening, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, being reborn into the determined, resilient one-of-a-kind, garden she is to face the modern world even stronger.

To show her off we at Beyond Black Mountain, in co-operation with Theewaterskloof municipality and Caledon Museum are hosting an art exhibition where talented artists will display their works in the garden and we are inviting you to join us on this journey.

Along with this unique, one of a kind art exhibition we will be hosting an auction for fundraising. These funds will be used to further upgrade the Caledon Wildflower Garden.

*the year was calculated from the commencement of the Caledon Wildflower Show (sadly the once oldest wildflower show no longer exists)
